Darren owns and manages Potentialplus and working in association with seven other consultants, cover the programmes offered. Outline career histories for Darren, Mark and Brian are below, with full CVs available for all consultants, when appropriate.
Darren Broad - Managing Director
Personal Profile
During
a 9-year career in the Royal Air Force, Darren specialised within the
physical training branch managing a variety of coaching situations to
improve personal and professional performance. On leaving, Darren rapidly
established himself in the Health and Fitness Industry and became a successful
personal trainer, coach and motivator for a range of professional individuals.
After 5 years, Darren took a management position with one of the UK 's leading training companies within the Health and Fitness industry. His responsibilities included; Programme Director, Senior Trainer and Assessor and Centre Manager.
Darren recognised, from his experience in coaching sports people that the key to improving and sustaining performance is to develop a high performance cerebral approach. In view of this Darren undertook research and analysis of performance development, coaching methods and related emotional intelligence research, which resulted in substantially improved results for his Clients, using his new methods. As a result of this he was approached to work as a subcontracting consultant with a leading training provider to deliver performance training, coaching programmes and 1:1 coaching for staff, management and directors in Blue Chip organisations.
Having established Potential Plus in 1999, to work with the above, Darren developed his portfolio of courses and 1:1 coaching techniques for the commercial environment and has had substantial success with Directors and staff across the UK and Europe.
Darren is married with four children – ages ranging from 3 - 20 years of age – which keeps his home life interesting and busy. A keen footballer, having played at semi-professional level and a black belt in the art of Wu Shu Kwan, Chinese kick-boxing.
His personal goal is to establish Potential Plus as an industry leader in delivering programmes for performance and coaching in all areas of business and to provide one-to-one coaching to develop the best in individual leaders at all levels.
Mark Simpson – Training Director
Personal Profile
Mark has been involved in personal development, training and coaching for over 14 years, following a successful career in sales within the pharmaceutical industry. Over this time he has developed a bright, interactive and enthusiastic training style.
His programmes are characterised by their focus on the ‘psychology of performance’ in tandem with skills training. This ensures participants get not only the skills they need but also the awareness of how to ‘unlock’ their own potential, producing dramatic results. “By introducing a performance aspect to training, we are able to ensure skills are embedded and individuals are able to exploit the potential they were not even aware they had.
Follow-up training or one-to-one coaching allows individuals to develop strategies to break down any future barriers they may encounter.”A qualified NLP practitioner and Insights Discovery accredited, Mark’s career has moved from the pharmaceutical arena to specialise in best practice for training design & delivery in Leadership, Selling and Customer Relationship Management. He is also an ILM approved trainer.
Mark’s goal with clients is to ensure that their needs are exceeded with the training solutions that he develops and delivers.
Mark lives in Poole, Dorset with his wife and son .He has a keen interest in motorcycles and motorcycle racing and enjoys occasional track days.
Brian
Broad – Director
Personal Profile
Squadron
Leader Brian Broad FBIPP RAF (Ret'd) retired from the Royal Air Force
in 1991 having served for 35 years. He was initially trained and
employed for four years as an aircraft Engine Fitter, retrained as
a Photographer then as an Air Camera Fitter. He was commissioned
in 1975 and for the last 16 years of service was employed as a Photographic
Engineering Officer within the Electrical Engineering branch.
His final appointment was as Officer Commanding of the Joint Services School of Photography with responsibility for the administration and logistical control of an organisation tasked with the training of students from all three Services.
His instructional staff of some forty personnel comprised both Service and civilian tradesmen and achieved an average annual throughput of over 300 students. During his career he served in Iraq, Cyprus, Germany, on loan to the Kenya Air Force and throughout the UK and Northern Ireland .
He has always had a keen interest in sports of all kinds having played Station level football, cricket and badminton, been a member of the Near East Air Force swimming and water polo team and played non-serious golf.
On retirement from the Royal Air Force Brian was approached by Seiko Timing to become part of a team involved with the improvement of photo-finish imagery at international athletics events. For the next seven years he was involved with the installation of equipment and production of high quality images at major meetings including the Commonwealth Games in New Zealand and Canada, headed an installation team and was a Venue Manager at the Barcelona Olympics, was Seiko technical representative for a year in Norway leading up to the Winter Olympics in Lillehamer and was a team member at the World Championships in Cuba, Sweden, Greece, Hungary and Spain.
Brian fully retired in 1999 but remains active in the community. He is Vice Chairman of the local U3A (University of the Third Age), Vice Chairman of the Local Parkinson's Disease Society, and a committee member of the 50+ Action Group. He has maintained his interest in golf for pleasure and has taken up bowls and croquet as befits a person of his advancing years without surrendering to it.
As a Director of Potential Plus Ltd Brian guides and advises in respect of business direction and growth. With his wide range of experience Brian also coaches other members of the company to set new and exciting challenges for the future.
